New GP Appointment System from 1st October 2025
From 1st October 2025, all requests for a GP appointment at our practice will be managed through a system called PATCHs.
How it will work
- If you need a GP appointment, you’ll be asked to complete a PATCHs online form.
- A GP or member of the clinical team will review your request.
- Based on the information you give, you may be:
- Offered an appointment (face-to-face or telephone call)
- Sent advice via text or phone call
- Directed to another service if that’s more appropriate
Why are we making this change?
NHS England has made Total Triage for GP appointments necessary for all practices from October 2025.
This means every request for a GP appointment must be assessed first, so that:
- GP appointments are prioritised for those who need them most
- Patients are directed to the most appropriate service without unnecessary delay
- Access and waiting times can be improved for everyone
What if I can’t use the internet?
Don’t worry – if you can’t fill in the form yourself, you can still call the practice. Our reception team will complete the PATCHs form for you.
Remember
- For urgent, life-threatening problems, always call 999. For out-of-hours help, use NHS 111.
