Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer in the UK. Screening aims to detect bowel cancer at an early stage, in people with no symptoms and when treatment is more likely to be effective. Most people diagnosed with bowel cancer are over 60 years old.
Screening can help detect bowel cancer and it can also be used to help check for and remove small growths in the bowel called polyps, which can turn into cancer over time.
